Chart positions
This show was 1st in the global soul chart, 1st in the global funk chart and 1st in the global disco chart.
For this new series I'll select a record label and pick a couple of tracks which I especially enjoy. This first set contains a selection from Philadelphia International Records.
Philadelphia International Records was founded in 1971 by the writer-producer duo, Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, along with their long time collaborator Thom Bell. It was famous for showcasing the Philadelphia soul music genre (also known as Philly soul). During the 1970s the label released a string of worldwide hits which emphasized lavish orchestral instrumentation, heavy bass, and driving percussion. Between 1971 and the early 80s, the label sold over 170 gold and platinum records.
This set is dedicated to Elisabetta and Massimiliano. Thanks for giving me the inspiration for this new series.
Hope you have fun listening.

Philly Soul one of my fav genres.....excellent selected!!
I love the Philly sound and this is a real musical treat. Great to hear some less obvious tracks too. And Lou Rawls Let Me Be Good To You....a big favourite of mine, a top tune. Thanks Huas! :)
Thanks Jonathan, it was really great to do this set. I love the label and tried to come up with a mixture of well known and more obscure tracks.
I'm gettin' on down and struttin' my funky stuff. Bobby Rush! Very Nice. 👍🏻
Groovy!

Zalige set man! Het zonnetje schijnt hier eens voor de verandering in België en dit is de kers op de taart! Dank u Hugo & geniet van uw zondag!
Hier is het ook heerlijk weer, genieten met fijne muziek en een koel drankje. Fijne zondag Mol.
AWESOME
Thank you very much Bayla.
I just love to listen to Philly records. I mean... those melodies...!! those voices... Jean Carn, you listen for five minutes and she's stuck forever. So great everything, and all those basslines… ’Be for real’, like he sings. I know one or two ppl that could need to listen to this. What a mixtape, Hugo. I know i’ll go back to this set
Feeling deeply honored mate, your comment makes me smile big time.
