Part 1 of a six hour journey through the musical and verbal history of the famed New York City Rock Club, CBGB's. Opened in 1973, the club that was supposed to feature Country, Blue Grass and Blues, wound up becoming the birthplace of Punk Rock. This segment also features live music by local artists Lou Tambone w/guitarist Dave Wilson also Tom Lucas, playing there own originals. The segment also features the voice of it's founder, the man to whom this show is dedicated, Hilly Kristal.
Richard Lloyd, one of the original members of the legendary rock group "Television" talks about how they came together to be the band that would change the destiny of this club and begin the parade of brilliant original music that would emerge from it's stage. Also, Patti Smith remembers Hilly's pet Saluki Jonathan, plus rare tracks from bands like "The Fast" and "The Shirts" ..........Part 1 of 3
