Dropping back to the start of the rave scene with late 80s and early 90s acid house

Although for some of us *cough* oldies, raves have been around since the 50s (Buddy Holly 'rave on', ring a bell?) the term really came to mean much more with the advent of electronic dance music in the mid 80s, especially techno and acid house, and growth of warehouse parties influenced by the northern soul and soul all-nighters.

Hong Kong Beat spins a little selection of the music of the scene from a rave-themed gig a few years back, for Thumping Thursday.
