"The Story" is a series, in which I tell my very subjective story of an artist, a label, or a musical style. So, here it is:
Chapter 7: The Classic Music Story
Founded in 1995 by Derrick L. Carter and Luke Solomon (of Freaks) Classic was always a label with an expiration date. The first release was #100 and the label was supposed to shut down once they reached #0. In 2005, after 100 singles (plus remixes, plus limited editions, plus albums) they followed this plan and stopped releasing further records.
After a short hiatus, however, Classic came back for good.
In the early 2000s Classic was one of my absolute favorite labels, and by releasing several instant classics they really lived up to their name back then.
Enjoy this blast from the past with many well known and, hopefully, some more obscure tracks!
Vinyl only mix done in one take.
