New York's Proto Punk Scene: 1972 - 1977
Chris Charlesworth (currently Editor-in-Chief at Omnibus Books Ltd) was the Melody Maker's 'Man in New York' during the burgeoning of New York's 'New Wave'. He was in attendance at groundbreaking early NYC gigs by The New York Dolls, and Wayne County and the Electric Chairs (later Jayne) and was the first UK journalist to write about The Ramones (in 1974). In 1975 he wrote the first feature to be published anywhere on Blondie, and broke the band in the UK in 1976. He went on to champion the New York Scene ahead of any UK music journalist. This is HIS story! ..... LIKE THIS? THEN LISTEN IN TO THESE .... >
