Godfather's of San Franciscan 'Freak Beat', 'High Energy Rock 'n' Roll'
and Proto-Punk, they wrote the 1st song about sniffin’ glue. The Groovies early line-up made 4 great influential albums, and a clutch of top singles; namely Sneakers (1968), Supersnazz (1969) Flamingo (1970), and Teenage Head (1971); and the seminal EP Slow Death (1972). The Original Groovies songwriter duo of singer Roy A. Loney and guitarist Cyril Jordan flew to London to play The 229 Club in Gt Portland St (24.05.11) to 600 groovers. Backed by Norton Record's A Bones from New York, it was the duo's first appearance in the UK as The Flamin' Groovies. They are cited by bands such as the Rolling Stones, The Cramps, and The Dead Kennedys. Part 1 features an exclusive interview with ROY A. LONEY, his first interview for UK radio, with added insight from the A Bones' guitarist Bruce Bennett.'_Groovies
