The Soul Bowl!

Playing tracks by

Joe Cocker, Mongo Santamaria, Ike & Tina Turner, Tom Jones, Bill Black’s Combo and more.

SoulSistas And SoulBruthas! Got a chance to stop my little secret digging spot, the local Salvation Army Thrift Store and had some great luck. All these records were in a box together. It looks like they more than likely came from the same person. I was particularly happy to finally get Joe Cocker's out of print LP with "Woman To Woman" on it. Loads of mugs have sampled that one. The Ike & Tina record is a scorcher. Tom Jones puts his spin on Sam & Dave's classic Stax hit. There's an absolutely amazing cover of Al Green's "Love And Happiness" by a group out of Philadelphia called, First Choice. Man, I totally dig that one! Bobby Bryant does a stunning cover of The Beatles', "Happiness Is A Warm Gun," one of the best I've ever heard. And the mix title cut comes from a strange little 45 on the Dore' label. You just gotta hear it!

Sometimes my little spot really delivers! I do hope you dig and I'll catch you on the FLIP!

Peace and SOUL,
HSB DaveB...

Damn, why did it take so long for me to discover this batch of heaters?!?Yes, yes, yes!!! Pure... The Mongo track was superb, the Tom Jones track, pure FIRE! I've got that one on a jukebox 33 somewhere in the kitchen, gotta dig it out. The Hudson and Landry track was a real hoot! Wayyyy too many heaters here. Top work as always; thanks as always for sharing. Hope your new year is progressing fine. I'll be dropping back in sooner than later, I promise :)

Peace and blessings.
