In 1969, my parents emigrated from Delhi, India to Toronto, Canada, where I was born. In 1972, my family moved to Flushing Queens; and in 1979, we moved to Elmood Park, New Jersey. There, I lived until 1987, when I left to attend college at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1992, I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in economics from the Wharton School of Business and a B.A. in psychology with a minor in English from the College of Arts and Sciences. I then earned my Ph.D. in social psychology from Stanford University in 1997.
