In the first of a two-part special Tubes frontman Fee Waybill chats to David Randall about the band's history; their trials, tribulations and tunes.
The Tubes are infamous for their racy stage shows which saw them banned by local councils in the UK in the late-1970s when they also became the scourge of morality campaigners. Waybill's larger than life stage personas included Quay Lewd, Johnny Bugger and Dr. Strangekiss...
In 2015 they celebrate 40 years since the release of their debut album. Their later albums - from 1979's 'Remote Control' onwards - although not commercially successful revealed an interesting musical underbelly. In the hands of top producers Todd Rundgren and David Foster these yielded some memorable tunes including their Top 3 U.S. hit 'She's A Beauty'.
