Research: Participation of Persons with Deafblindness in India

Overview: Deafblindness is a unique disability with a combination of visual and hearing impairment affecting communication, mobility, and access to information from the outside world. These challenges in communication, accessing information and mobility hinder their functioning and participation making deafblindness one of the most isolating disabilities. The dual sensory loss affects the engagement of persons with deafblindness (PwDb) in the environment and poses difficulty for them in communicating, establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships with others, which can then result in isolation from society.
