We see many places in scripture where it is good to plan. It is good to work hard like the ant (Proverbs). James clearly has an issue with this planning as we look at this passage. He addresses the sin of presumption; presuming on God, on tomorrow. We think we know more and can control something, anything. The danger we see is in living as if we are God. We need to live our lives always, all ways conscious of God. This does not negate our planning but as we seek to know God's precepts and plan it looks more like 'your will be done, please work in me, please redirect me'. And thus we find freedom as in Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the Lord....
