Throughout the first five chapters of Acts, the church has been in something of a “honeymoon phase.” God has been blessing them with tremendous growth, power, and bravery to face all opposition. Even in the face of persecution, the gospel is powerfully going forward and the church is being built up. The church seems bullet-proof! But in Acts 6, the church faces its first internal conflict. Acts 6:1-7 not only gives us the solution to this conflict—it serves as a paradigm for what unity in service looks like in the church.
