TEXT: John 16:1-4
Josh McDowell said, "As a reward for their efforts, those early Christians were beaten, stoned to death, thrown to the lions, tortured and crucified. Every conceivable method was used to stop them from talking."
Why did Jesus speak to His disciples at such length about the hatred and persecution they would face after He was gone? Some lesser individuals would have focused on words of comfort, intending to calm the disciples' troubled hearts. But Jesus says, "These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended." Persecution for His followers was coming, and Jesus wanted them to be prepared.
