TEXT: John 13:1-3
Robert L. Deffinbaugh said, "What a comfort to the Christian, knowing that our Lord's love is constant and unchanging, knowing that He chose to love us -- and to keep on loving us -- purely out of His grace, and not based upon our performance. Jesus loved His own; He loved them to the 'end' -- to the uttermost degree."
In our last message, we discussed the immeasurable love of Jesus Christ for His disciples which remained even in the face of His own death. Today we see that it remained not only in the face of death, but in the face of betrayal. Verse 2 reads, "And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray [Jesus]..."
The term "supper being ended" means that the serving of the supper was complete. Jesus and His disciples were still eating as is indicated in the following verses. Jesus was eating dinner with the man who would turn Him in to the religious authorities in a few hours. Imagine: Jesus with His h
