Tracks 12-14: ...Cuz It’s Hot is an old goth club staple when the DJ (me) needs to take a bathroom break and get a drink; There’s More To Life Than This is just an all around great tune but tied in because Björk recorded it live in the toilets at the Milk Bar; which flows into Like Someone In Love, which she covered and was the next track on Debut, so I gave you the Chet Baker original. 🖤⭐️

Tracks 10 & 11: I Wanna Be Your Dog / I Feel Loved. Transitioning from Les Fleurs made me think of Émilie Simon because of her song Fleur de Saison, but I always loved her cover of The Stooges’ I Wanna Be Your Dog. Depeche Mode also did a Stooges cover on their album Exciter B-sides, but it didn’t fit the mood so I went with I Feel Loved to reconnect with my Woman In Love theme from earlier (thanks, Babs). I went to the tour for Exciter in summer 2001 at Pine Knob with a guy from work and his wife. I was slowly revealing my goth side to others and wore a black PVC and tulle ball gown. The guy’s wife kept threatening to set my skirt on fire with her cigarette because the wind occasionally blew it into her and she must have had sensory issues or just was a massive bitch. IDK. The crowd up front wasn’t as lush as the band must have hoped so Security came and got the three of us and took us down to the second row and that’s the closest I’ve ever stood to Dave Gahan. 🖤⭐️

Track 9: Les Fleurs. Minnie Riperton always makes me think of my friend and Sonic Boo, Dezi, whose Verbs From The Dungeon series inspired me to develop this series (Undeclared Peanuts). He’s a wealth of musical knowledge, creative and skilled AF and I’m glad to have such a rich inspiration in my life. 🖤⭐️

Track #7: Woman In Love. Part of how I choose songs when I’m building an Undeclared Peanuts is if I keep hearing a song while listening to another song. I kept hearing the chorus when I would listen to Arabian Dance from The Nutcracker, and I Wanna Get High. Oddly enough, I really even carried it into Shimmy Shimmy Ya, which amused the hell out of me so I left it even though that track doesn’t seem to fit at all. And so it fit. Thank you for listening! 🖤⭐️

Track 6: I Wanna Get High. While I’ve never partaken of the jazz cabbage, after the soul crushing bullshit of the last two years, I certainly feel the sentiment. Thank you for listening!!! 🖤⭐️

Tracks 4 and 5 (An Epic; Little Green Bag) were heard on episodes of the aforementioned Warrior during a frenzied binge-watch. Thank you for listening!!! 🖤⭐️

Dear PenPal,
.
What a fantastic mix - I love how cohesive your shows can be, even when they are so genre-hopping. (Okay, Ol’ Dirty may have been a bit of wildcard…) There’s also always a vague and ungraspable sense of what you’re thinking/feeling each week. Thanks for sharing.
.
Sorry I haven’t written lately; I have been practically and psychologically maxed out. Digging into your back catalog of Blush Response mixes has helped maintain my sanity.
.
All the best,
Reade
.
p.s. That Björk song is the best Björk song and no one can convince me otherwise, even myself, though I’ve tried. A divine pairing with Chet.

Dear PenPal, thank you for writing and always saying nice things about my chaos. I know what you mean about being maxed out, but every time I get a notification that you’ve favorited something from my back catalog, it’s like a sweet virtual high-five. I’m glad you’re hanging onto your sanity, and I’m even gladder I could help Warmest regards, DJGS 🖤⭐️

This is a chaotic stream-of-consciousness mix. As / if it charts throughout the week, I'll share details of why songs were chosen. The first three tracks were from a lazy movie marathon weekend with my daughter: Run Rabbit Run [Miss Peregrine's Home of Peculiar Children], Arabian Dance [The Nutcracker and the Four Realms], Flower of the Universe [A Wrinkle In Time].
