Michael Jorba_ GMHC 1985 Tape 3

Michael Jorba_ GMHC 1985 Tape 3

Playing tracks by

Chewy Rubs, Queen Samantha, Jackie Rowe, Grace Jones and Celi Bee.

I always forget to shut off my apps on the iPhone so when I hop in the car and turn on the radio, the Bluetooth picks up whatever happens to be playing on the iPhone. Tonight I am listening and thinking, "what great music, this is like what Jorba would be playing." So I take the phone out of my pocket and sure enough it IS Jorba. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did with his consent and regards.

I'm So Happy by Julia & Company 1985 at 31:00. Awesome memories of the entire set, thanks!

Yay for Michael Jorba!!

And 'THANK YOU!" to Owen Frager for
a) Having saved the music—assumably on a mixed tape (Michael's subscription tapes?);
b) Digitizing said tape (my copies …Daydream, LoveLight, The Promise You Made, HOTLanta DECAGON '88…) have been played so much that they don't sound all that good even after I digitized them);
c) the serendipitous events you describe above ;-); AND
d) Posting for others to enjoy. (The last is something I have not gotten around to… note to self: get on that!)

I don't think I was at the GMHC party in '85, but I was definitely there in '86…in fact, if I recall, that was the year that my partner and I stayed with Michael at his share on the Island. (We were EXTREMELY fortunate to know Michael, and even more lucky/blessed to have him invite us to stay with him on such a huge weekend!! Ah… the memories. They just don't make music/parties/"etc." they way they used to.

STOP PRESS: I actually have a rip of a tape labeled Fire Island Morning Party 1985 – Jorba" in my iTunes, but it's not the same as what you've posted (yours says "3"; I only have this one and it's not numbered.) Ping me back and we'll have to compare!!

Thanks again, Owen. (And thanks to Mr. Jorba for allowing you to post [Howdy, Michael!].) And, while I'm at it, a shout out to my long-lost friend Mark B; I have a funny story to tell you about this very post the next time we talk!)
