Explore highlands, deserts, lochs, and volcanos with my bespoke playlists.

I still very much enjoy listening to vinyl, cassettes and CDs. However, I'm sure that many will agree that, whilst working, exercising, or driving, having to flip a cassette, change a CD, or make changes to any other device can be frustrating.

When creating your own playlists, or shuffling your favourite songs, there will always be moments where you wish to skip to something else. That being said, you should really be listening to albums from start to finish in my opinion. Granted there are times when you require to be entertained for much longer than the average 35 minute LP. In addition, music is often mixed/mastered at different volume levels and there can often be too much of a gap between songs, potentially spoiling the flow of the music to the listener. This can be particularly annoying while driving. I love taking long trips to through the highlands of Scotland, the deserts of America and high mountain passes of the Alps. For such long journeys I crave non-stop music, hence the motivation for constructing these bespoke playlists.

I asked myself: "what kind of playlist could I create from my own record collection that would perpetually entertain and inspire me throughout my adventures?” Alas, one playlist can never be enough to mirror the nuances of the road, the pace of the drive and the mood of the driver; Different journeys require different musical selections.
Like many other musicians I have a wide range of musical tastes and influences. That being said, I could probably summarise my regular listening choices, when driving, into three main categories:

ROCK / BLUES / JAMES BOND

So, after several months hard work, I've finally managed to produce three, extra-long, bespoke playlists, complete with smooth transitions that can be enjoyed on or off-road. I have manually adjusted loudness normalisation between each track; meaning that, for the most part, you shouldn’t need to adjust your volume control once set. These three playlists have been tailor made to my own specific musical tastes, however, I very much hope you will also enjoy listening to them.

I began by searching my collection, collating records that: have influenced me as a musician, which energize me and continue to inspire me. I also thought it important to include music that I have made with my band, selecting some of the records that I’m most proud of producing.
