One of the first "social skills" we learn, is to make eye contact when having a conversation with someone. Almost a "rule of engagement"! People want to know that we are interested in them. That we are engaged. Connected. Simply be pleasant. Speak kindly. Play nice! It's not always easy to "play nice" once you ARE engaged or know someone well. When we are in REAL relationships it is more likely that we'll want to tap out, and flee or maybe shut down and freeze up once the going gets rough! The Joy of It Girls challenge us to consider, "How good and pleasant it is when brothers live in unity" (Psalm 133:1) and be willing to think what THAT might look like instead of our usual responses in our relationships, with the help of our maker and creator!
