Asheville Lyric Opera

Asheville Lyric Opera

For this episode of Finding Asheville, we sit down with David Craig Starkey, founder of Asheville Lyric Opra. David tells us about his background in opera, acting and singing; the difference between an opera and a musical, and why Asheville was the perfect city to start a lyric opra. The Asheville Lyric Opera was first formed in 1999, and puts on multiple productions a year at the Diana Wortham Theatre. The opera offers an eclectic variety of productions, ranging from operetta to classics like Roger and Hammerstein.  Asheville Lyric Opera stages original productions of opera and lyric theatre to enrich, engage, and educate. They serve patrons and the community through collaborations and outreach with organizations and schools from Asheville and the surrounding region. We hope this week's episode of Finding Asheville strikes a chord with you!
