Playing tracks by
Isao Suzuki, Jackie McLean & The Cosmic Brotherhood, McCoy Tyner, P.E. Hewitt Jazz Ensemble, Byron Morris & Unity and more.
Back in the studio and back to the jazz, as we dig deep into the shelves to bring you another hour's worth of deep and spiritual jazz music. On the menu this week, we have a spot of Japanese jazz from composer and bassist Isao Suzuki, an early seventies' date from Jackie McLean and his Cosmic Brotherhood, and a Blue Note favourite from McCoy Tyner. We pull a couple of tracks of rare (and now recently reissued) material from the P.E. Hewitt Jazz Ensemble and Bobby Jackson, and two fantastic performances from Byron Morris' Unity and the Bernie Senensky Trio. Rounding things off is a killer bit of big band business from Francy Boland and Kenny Clarke. A laidback blend with an introspective feel, we hope you enjoy.
We'll be back next week with hopefully a little taster from the Favourite Things live jam at Favela Chic this Wednesday. Watch this space.
