Introducing "Retrospective", a new series of posts dedicated to creative heritage of great musicians, composers and producers. The opening mix consists of pieces by Mikael Tariverdiev, Soviet pianist and composer of Armenian origin (Aug 15, 1931 - Jul 25, 1996). During the course of his creative career Tariverdiev has scored 132 movies, including classic titles such as “Seventeen Moments of Spring” (“Семнадцать мгновений весны”) and “The Irony of Fate” (“Ирония судьбы, или С лёгким паром!”). His music is used in a number of plays, ballets and operas. He is the author of a hundred of songs and romances, chamber song cycles, several symphonies, three organ concertos, two concertos for violin and orchestra, and a concerto for viola and string orchestra. Some portion of Tariverdiev’s musical legacy remains yet to be unearthed from the musician’s archive.
