Young Chicago Authors pulls Chicago together in an explosion of the city’s young writers’ creative voices. The nonprofit organization leads workshops and open mics, and throws Louder Than A Bomb, a massive festival that has sprung into festivals around the country. The festival’s curator, Kevin Coval, is a poet and teaching artist whose most recent book, Schtick, was published by Haymarket Books. Just hours after Erasing Boundaries sat down with YCA alum Mick Jenkins, who was on the show last week, we traipsed over to the neighborhood of Albany Park and joined him in his apartment for a conversation. Unfortunately, the audio equipment couldn’t handle the depth of the conversation, and left listeners with only part one of the conversation, with the second half to follow in a few weeks.
Music on this week’s show:
Taketron (Erasing Boundaries Theme) by Slavic Soul Party
Sound the Alarm by Booker T. & Mayer Hawthorne
4 Corners by Homeboy Sandman
Lost Not Lost by Nick Ward
All I See by Gr
