Erasing Boundaries has come to Chicago as an outsider over the past two years, and has tried to piece together a working understanding of how the city’s vibrant hip hop world is developing by connecting with artists, who have given insider perspectives and glimpses into the city’s inner workings. Mick Jenkins, this week’s guest on the show, is in some ways an outsider himself. He moved to the city as a child from Huntsville, Alabama, and had to piece the city together for himself. His writing and music have become a means to understand, bridging the gap between his childhood and the world he sees. Under the fluorescent lights of a Chicago chicken joint, he opens up about his role as storyteller in the City of Wind.
