How and where do you find the freedom to explore? For Chicago artist The GTW, the space is in the overlaps between his worlds. Though “Chigeria,” the musical and aesthetic category he has created, is born out of his personal intersection between Chicago and his Nigerian parents’ influence, he emphasizes that there is space for all influences to shape the culture in which he lives. From his early rapping to his more recent melodic explorations, The GTW’s musical and narrative voice hovers over the city, ambitiously encapsulating his perspective in new ways.
