The police on Sunday rescued a man who was about to complete suicide by jumping into the Lagos lagoon. According to reports, he's the third Nigerian to be rescued by the police after the shocking news of a young medical doctor who jumped into the lagoon two weeks ago. The doctor was thirty five years old man and, in the present economic state of the country, had a chauffeur-driven Honda Utility Vehicle. Now, that’s quite an achievement, we would say. But something made him take his own life, and the fact that he didn’t leave any note leaves us all in even deeper shock.
This week on Red Carpet Show on Radio Nigeria Voice FM 96.7 Nsukka I started Campaign against Completing Suicide. With the increasing rate of suicide cases in Nigeria among young people, one is left to ask , what are we not doing right?
