I talk with Sam Mackay, researcher and co-founder of the London Contemporary Music Festival. We chat about improvised and experimental music practices, being uni grads from Edinburgh, and noise in a post-colonial setting.
ECHO CHAMBER is a podcast dealing with music’s power over emotions. Featuring interviews of experimental musicians and excerpts of their music, it explores the phenomenology of music through the lens of an experimental, free-improvised and empirical approach. A recurring theme is the link between music and grieving – how music, like departed loved ones, is only really present in memory.
