I recorded this mix last week on impulse after I'd been meaning to do a new one for ages. On listening back to it I realised that the start at least has had more than a passing influence of David Holmes essential mix from the late 90's. No bad thing in my opinion as I can still vividly remember when a friend played it to me for the first time - he'd recorded it the night before on to one side of D90 tape so he only had 45 minutes of it. At the time I was a pure House head but when I heard the tape play I was blown away and it opened up my mind to the fact that these records could be mixed and blended in to something sounding modern and fresh. OK David used some great vocals samples and some modern tunes to do this but to my ears that made it even better. Viewed from today's perspective this genre mashing does not seem so revolutionary (its so easy now what with You Tube, mp3's etc) but believe you me it was a breath of fresh air at the time so respect to David Holmes.
