I've been watching a lot of Wes Anderson movies, as usual. I've wanted to make an imaginary Wes Anderson-esque soundtrack since seeing the Royal Tenenbaums in the cinema many moons ago (my stub for the movie still sits inside the inlay of the CD). This is it, but it's also more than that.
The past few years have come with an appreciation for musical styles that I had previously ignored, mainly pop with lush, often orchestral, production. Pet Sounds for instance, though always having had a place in my heart, has become one of my most listened to and firm favourite albums. My https://www.mixcloud.com/duncanrsharvey/make-yourself-comfortable/ and https://www.mixcloud.com/duncanrsharvey/super-45-tours/ mixes reflect this.
This collection of whimsical, wistful, joyful and melancholic pop music from he 60s and 70s is a culmination of all these things.
