I happily admit that my first introduction to, or first conscious introduction to Rhythm & Blues was through The Blues Brothers. I specifically remember the scene where they arrive at Elroy's tiny room for the first time, the train in rumbling past, Elroy makes dry white toast on a grill and puts on Louis Jordan's 'Let the Good Times Roll' whilst Jake crashes in the bed.
I had no idea what that music was but I wanted to find out. Here's some of what I found out.
