DNCNG Podcast Episode 29 - Veloziped 11.2012

Playing tracks by

Philipp Madeiski, Xosar, Round Two , Jeff Mills, Moodymann and more.

A friend of us, a vinyl junkies. That's Veloziped.

Born in 1968 in Merano between Kraftwerk and Herbie Hancock, raised with tapes of Baldelli and Beppe Loda, Cure, Pixies, Sonic Youth. 1990 he went to Wien for the studies, accompanied with free rave parties, (Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Basic Channel...) Detroit! and electro (Aux88, Juan Atkins, Drexciya...)
Five years later he organized the first illegall party in a bunker: DJ Veloziped the artist formerly known as Technowalter.
From 1998 he's back to Merano; he played regularly at the Buddha Club, three years at Radio Tandem.
Now he's got a residency at the Sketch and from 2011 at the Sunday Best in Pienzenau.

I wanted to include tracks of producers who I really estimate like Jeff Mills who was one of my first heroes when I started listening to techno in the 90ties.
The track "New Day" of Basic Channel was perhaps the track that convinced me to follow not only techno and electro but also vocal house which at that time seemed cheesy to me. But that track really touched me. Then of course Moodymann a gifted producer of sample based house, I will never stop listening to his production.
I had to include a track of Underground Resistance, the Davina track is also fine piece of vocal house. I wanted to have a track of my good friend Scott Ferguson from Ferrispark Records. With him I began to understand what Detroit means: simply good music without the limitation of genres and perfect mixed to form a real musical journey. He is probably one of the best djs I have ever seen, His production is also perfect for me and I can always play. I will never be that good as a DJ but I'm trying to improve. I also appresciate Andrès and I was buying his records just from the start. They are always something special. Simple but I never get bored of them. I also like Levon Vincent very much. I have only a few of his records but they are all great for creating a unique energetic atmosfere. I also wanted to have a track of Move D.
I'm starting my set with a track of a young producer of South Tyrol who studied music in Vienna where he is still living. He told me that because of local DJs like Mam and me he has decided to move to Austria and to study electronic music. At that time he invited us to play on the parties of him and his highschool friends.
Unfortunately some of my important artists like Theo Parrish, Robert Hood, Mike Huckaby, Drexciya or Patrick Pulsinger are not included but now I mentioned them.
Thank you DNCNG for giving me the opportunity to make this mix. :)
