If the world is ending soon, let us waste no time and get on the dance floor. This edition in the Ngoma Mix Series focuses on new 125 bpm African Electronic Dance Music, which may or may not have much to do with what is traditionally known as “House”. The percussion heavy selections come mainly from South Africa and Angola, with a touch of Afro-jazz, some diasporic influences from Cuba and Colombia, couple tunes from Spain, and a shot of Nigerian Pop at the peak. This is the first part, with a relatively bright palette of sounds: stay tuned for DRUM 2 – the dark side.
