This was the closing set I played at the 2009 Pridefest celebration held in Civic Center Park in downtown Denver. The festivities ended on a beautiful Sunday evening as the sun began to set and the beautiful, smiling crowd packed the dance area until the very last beat. I was not sure what to expect playing at the end of a long day in the sun, but was pleasantly surprised that the crowd seemed to get bigger, stronger and more joyous as the day went on and it turned out to be possibly the best crowd I have ever had the honor to play for. While the Pridefest audience is much more diverse musically than the typical club or rave crowd since the event brings people of all backgrounds together, they not only stuck with me as I played cuts that they had never heard but they elevated me to another level musically as the tech, house and tribal rhythms led beautifully into 2 all-time house music classics from the 80's: Joe Smooth's "Promised Land" and Frankie Knuckles' "The Whistle Song".
