I've been intending to upload the series of 4 long mixes that I made in 2011 for a while now, and I'm finally getting around to it. This was the year that I began using the program Traktor on my laptop. Vinyl (and I guess now even CD) mix purists have had much disdain for the ease that Traktor has brought to the mixing 'game', but one must move forward with technology and embrace it or be left behind. As I got comfortable with the program (these 4 mixes are basically recorded on the fly as I learned to use Traktor), what I quickly realized (and was very excited by) was the unexpected opportunities to layer and mix up to 4 tracks at a time along with loops and samples that I created, remixing on the fly in the mix. I think I have proven my manual mixing skills over my 20 years of DJ'ing (mostly with vinyl), so I have no problem letting this new technology match the tempos and beats for me so I need not worry on my end, allowing me to manipulate the music in ways I never imagined.
