DJ Roffie - Mabiko

"Mabiko" – a Shona language slang term for a Braai (BBQ), music, drinks fuelled social gathering.

For this mix released in 2007, Roffie went down memory lane digging up some RnB, Hip-Hop, Ragga, Kwaito and Zim hits from the 1990s. This selection of 90s classics were given his signature 'Blend' mixing style sprinkled with hints of 2000s club bangers.

The Zimbabwean-born, UK based DJ went on to say..."This mix is quite special to me because of the nostalgia around living in Harare at the time. Back in those days in my late teens, I was in awe seeing DJs such as Jah B, Tich Mataz, Martin Smooth, Otis "The Flow" Fraser and Peter Johns entertaining the masses behind the decks which inspired me to follow in their foot steps. This mix is both a tribute to them and Harare's party culture during that era".
