Easter at the Saint 1986 / Part 8 of 10

Playing tracks by

Jackie Rawe and Whitney Houston.

Chart positions

This show was 8th in the global disco chart.

Recorded live at the fabled club The Saint in New York City, this excerpt would have been playing at about 9AM on Easter morning.
The mid-Eighties were a difficult time for nightlife in New York. In gay clubs, the Health Crisis dealt a crippling blow to both attendance and spirits. At the Saint, there was almost a stubborn refusal to face reality while on the dancefloor. ["In here, life is beautiful..."] Party nights were still packed.
Men danced furiously and with cathartic abandon... because life outside the dome was somewhat less pretty.
Listening to this set with the history of the era in mind gives one an entirely different perspective on the music and the mood of the day.

I was at this party, remember it well and this set brought me right back. Thanks, Robbie and hello to any of my friends from that time that see this.

That Dorothy Moore track - beautifuil

When I die I want my heaven to be under the dome once again dancing among the Angels that were there before me!

So awesome to finally check out Mixcloud and find your stuff, Robbie! After listening to some of the "old" school DJs mixtapes years later, I find that many of their mixes weren't that good (the drugs we were using helped mask that!) but you are now and have always been solid gold!

Makes me feel like I was right there...under that incredible dome with the magnificent pulsing sound system...but with all the holes that were being created on the dance floor, it still saddens me to think what we lived day dancing feverishly with our friends...three weeks later, we were burying them...Im very lucky and proud to still be alive at the ripe old age of 56...and can still relive my youth through these fierce pulsating sounds...

You had me from that 1st note....a favorite...

Great Memories on that sublime Dance Floor.
