August 2012 - A cracking mix to soundtrack the London Olympic Games, August showcases the best in deep, soulful and downright funky house music. After a melodic opening from the ever 'Deependable' Karol XVII & MB Valence, we dive back into the late 1980's with a beautiful vocal from the legendary Robert Owens. Mr Mike & Rocco then spread a message of unity, Kevin Yost takes us deep, before Dave Mayer and another from Mr. Owens add more funky, dancefloor-friendly vibes. A sign of things to come, these tracks warm us nicely, allowing the incredible uplifting vocals of Marty Thomas to take us to church (via the disco). Talking of disco, Hamilton Bohannon's late '70's monster 'Let's Start The Dance' was one of the scene's biggest tracks, was huge at the Paradise Garage, and laid the foundations for today's house music. Still sounds awesome today. Street Choir serve up a slamming remix of Aretha Franklin, and Replay & Ruben Alvarez conclude proceedings with their Latin pianos. Lovely.
