Daddy Go Down to the Ghetto and Spread Your Love

Daddy Go Down to the Ghetto and Spread Your Love

Playing tracks by

David Byrne, The Stone Roses, Kenny Rogers, Imelda May, The Temptations and more.

Random, on-the-spot mix for a kind of groovy, funky, fun night. A couple of bits of swearing, so not safe for work or children (unless you skip Black Grape and Ghostface Killah).

I would like to think that this is the first time that Kenny Rogers, Ghostface Killah and Ghetto Plotz have all been featured together in a mix, but maybe someone can prove me wrong...

BTW, I don't think I'd ever really just sat & listened to the whole thing, I'm on my 3rd repeat this morning, and am just as blown away at the genre mashing you did so expertly in this mix, everything from polka to zeppelin style rock, hip hop & just some amazing mashes, no wonder I love it so much. Even the damned polka or whatever it is, has an awesome thumping beat! Wow. Still awed by your talent.

Shared this out again today with this comment: My favorite mix, an hour long, on mixcloud by DJ Kaboodle. This is what I am listening to all morning on the CD I wrote from it yesterday (finally did CDs, 10+ yesterday, lol).

Please check out my 2 30+ minute mixes just uploaded today :-) The 2nd one is better balanced, made it immediately after 1st because last 2 tracks on the 1st one didn't fit at all, so replaced them on second. You can skip 1st & go to second instead if you want. The same theme songs are used in both (3 of same in each). I also posted the download links on my FB profile, if you want the mp3's instead :-) How did I do for 1st mix? Harder than I assumed, lol.

Thanks again - glad that we're both keeping the musicians employed! Maybe one day someone will hire me to curate a compilation...

I hope I create another mix that you enjoy half as much!

Looking forward to hearing more of your mixes - you've made a great start already.

I also bought 8 out of 10 of those tracks, too bad you don't get a commission for every sale and every listen, you'd be rich off me already, lol. ;-P

I'm back again, for another listen, share out to profiles to the new people who joined in last 2 weeks, etc. I still can't get enough of this mix. Maybe someday I'll do one of these myself, in addition to my remix ambitions I now hope to make one of these of at least 30 minutes as you wanted. It may be easier than remixing, lol; tho never as good as yours, not just starting.

I just spent all day chasing down the original versions of these songs using google search, since the links above don't go to the originals. About 75% I liked or loved, the rest, pah! but when YOU mixed them, oh man did they sound MUCH better together! I want YOUR version, it's the only one that has the full effect. It boggles my mind that you would even think these songs go together, or know where to find some of them, but you have a knack for putting disparate sounds together to make something new & excellent out of parts of the whole I wouldn't have considered. Kudos :)

Thanks! Do you mean 'Daddy Go Down'? If so then, yes, you should be able to download it from Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Daddy-Go-Down-LP-Version/dp/B001F9Z244/?&tag=mixcloud0f-21)

Morcheeba are the backing band on that album (Feelings). The whole album is great, too!

I love the Irish influences & bluesy flavor to this song. Is it downloadable anywhere? Found you through mixxx board :)
