Pat Laffan as Coosheen Seanchai Padraig (Croaker) O Briain, recounting "The Widow's Son" in 1950

The great Pat Laffan re-enacts Padraig (Croaker) O Briain's version of "The Widow's Son" as recorded in Coosheen, County Clare by Tadhg O Murchadha and Kevin Danaher for the Irish Folklore Commission in 1950, translated into English for the first time ever by UCD's Ailbe van der Heide.

This recording was shared at Kilkee's Cultúrlann Sweeney on November 24th 2018 as an audio-sldeshow and special event as part of Deirdre's "Mother Tongue: Coosheen's Forgotten Seanchai and Son" exhibition (Nov 23 - Dec 21).

Produced, adapted, recorded & directed by Deirdre Mulrooney in connection with her BAI-funded radio documentary "Coosheen's Forgotten Seanchai and Son", broadcast on Newstalk 106 - 108fm on December 16th & 22nd 2018, and available on podcast. This is currently a work in progress, awaiting a new multimedia incarnation. (C) Deirdre Mulrooney. Not to be reproduced.
