Textural. Experimental. Alternative. All these words can be used to describe the latest name to come rolling out the Somethinksounds camp. Hailing from the same label that brought us Eliphino last year, Tommy Tempa creates luscious, deep and often trans-genre spreading music, all written, performed and produced single-handedly.
A producer, multi-instrumentalist and tastemaker, Tommy’s new digital only EP ‘Quixotic’ has just been released, blurring the lines between traditional and modern day forms of electronic production with a hearty organic and experimental feel. Although new to some, Tempa first made his debut in 2006 with ‘Time to Run’ on 2600 Recordings, which combined elements of hip hop, wonky 8-bit pop, funk and jazz structuralism influences, helping him gain the heads-up from the likes of Huw Stephens and Gilles Peterson. He’s also remixed the likes of Caribou and many more breakthrough names in the last few years.
