Since dubstep blew up, there’s hundreds of copycats out there, and where there once was a time when near every tune seemed like an innovative, original breath of fresh air, the scene is somewhat suffering from a deluge of indentikit bassbin warblers. Luckily though, there’s still a number of forward-thinking producers displaying as much hunger for pushing things in new directions as everyone did in the first place.
Distance has been one of the most consistently impressive producers in the scene over the past few years, with a distinctive sound that draws on his heavy metal background; crashing, metallic percussion and gritty, distorted guitar riffs bridging the gap between dubstep and industrial rock in a potent and impressive fashion.
Enjoy this cinematic mix that blends dubstep, trip-hop and elements of rock to great effect.
