Dear Pauline, many thanks for your lovely comment, so glad you enjoyed the show - hope you weren't offended by me saying that I didn't like Leonard's 'Dance Me to the End of Love' as a teenager! My tastes have evolved and I'm actually finding it funny now that I disliked the song so much back then... :) Phil Underwood is such a lovely guy and brilliant musician, he made a fabulous guest. Many thanks for intending buy the The Fishwives Choir's single, it's for a great cause. Also it was my absolute pleasure to play Ange's beautiful new recording. I'll be delighted if you listen to the show again in the future, and will always be happy to say 'hello' live on air and play your folky song requests. Very best wishes, xx

Hi Daria, thanks for your reply. No, I wasn't at all offended that you never used to like his song ' Dance Me to the End of Love ' as I admit his early songs /singing was a very aquired taste and some people used to say his songs / singing was ' music to commit suicide by ' or words to that effect. I don't like all of his songs myself but he has certainly mellowed now he is older ( he's 79) and having seen him last June at the 02 Arena in London I can vouch for his popularity now and the excellent 3+ hour show he puts on for fans. He started out in Montreal as a poet only and it was only thanks to Judy Collins that he became a singer / songwriter. There is a video on YouTube of him being coaxed onto the stage with Judy and he looks very nervous and shy but she encouraged him to stick at songwriting and singing and the rest is history as they say. Judy has recorded many of Leonard's songs over her long career and even brought out an album of his songs entitled ' Judy Collins Sings Leonard Cohen: DEMOCRACY' which has 14 of his songs on it including ' Sisters of Mercy '. I have tried looking on Amazon for the Fishwives Choir's single but it isn't on there so can you give me details of where I can buy it please. I will listen to your show again of course and not to worry if Brandi isn't folky enough to play a 'surprise' track by ! I love most folk music, both British and American / Canadian etc so anything is welcome. I hope you don't mind but I have shared this Sundays show on FB though I haven't checked yet to see if it is on there, but I hope so, as I praised you and your show up in the hope I can encourage FB friends of mine to listen to the show and hopefully get 'hooked '. I hope you don't mind that I added a comment after Ange's on your FB page saying about how giggly you were with Phil Underwiood in the studio and that maybe he brought in a bottle of Mint Julep or Dixie Beer and you had a few swigs of it which made you a bit giggly, though I'm sure you were stone cold sober and just enjoyed him being in the studio ( with his ladyfriend) and chatting to him and listening to his Cajun/ Louisiana music on his various accordions including the aptly named Lucille ! Thanks again for playing my track and also for promoting Ange as I know she really appreciates it. Dobry den ~ best wishes Paw xx

Dear Pauline, thanks :) First, here's a link to the single, you can download both tracks or just one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/When-Boat-Comes-Eternal-Father/dp/B00H4IMOH8
I'm very grateful for you kindly promoting my show and your lovely words, as well as the cool music facts you've been sharing with me. Always a pleasure to do requests and promote hugely talented musicians like Ange. And don't mind the 'giggly' comment at all, I know I am! :) Love, Daria xx

I will start by saying my name is Pauline Mitchell and I live in Bristol. I first of all want to thank Daria for playing an album track I recommended, this being the Leonard Cohen song 'Sisters of Mercy ' by Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing it on Radio Dacorum and also of course the positive comments afterwards by Daria and her studio guest Phil Underwood, as they spent a few minutes after the song was played talking about Leonard Cohen who I am a huge fan of. I also enjoyed all the music played on this show especially the track ' Claudy Banks ' by Ange Hardy who I am also a fan of and it's good that Daria promoted Ange singing this song for the Radio Two Cecil Sharp project. I also enjoyed listening to Phil Underwood playing various accordions and Cajun music which had my feet tapping throughout. I think this was one of the best programmes of hers I have heard so far, as she seemed very bubbly, even giggly but it was lovely to hear her laughter as she was clearly enjoying having Phil as her studio guest. I now intend buying the single by The Fishwives Choir ' When the Boat Comes In / Eternal Father ' as it's beautiful and also recorded to raise awareness and donate profits to charity for fishermen and their families. I hope to be able to share this particular programme on FB to enable my FB friends to hear the show and hopefully listen in each week from now on. I won't deny the fact that I got a mention is partially to do with promoting Daria's folk show but it's a great show anyhow and she is a delightful host / DJ. Thanks Daria on behalf of myself and Ange Hardy for featuring my song choice and her singing ' Claudy Banks '. Best wishes Paw ( Pauline ) xopm
