Kush I’s professional career as a singer, song writer began under the guidance of the legendary Ken Boothe who took interest in Kush I and introduced him to Kingston studios and music-makers. Right from the beginning of his career Kush I’s style was compared to Sanchez D, Tabby Diamond and Garnett Silk whom he openly acknowledges along with his cousin ‘Pipe’ of The Wailing Souls as being strong influences on his music.   After some years of working with various renown producers on the Kingston circuit, Kush I settled with Binggae records. His first release “Too Much Gun" in the late 1990s produced by ’Papa’ Keith Francis of the legendary band Chalice, was demonstrative of Kush I’s appreciation of high quality production, solid instrumentation, conscious message and social commentary which became the foundation of a successful formula that Kush I continues to use to date and is prominent in the productions, ‘Love Deyah’ and the eponymous ‘Kush I’ produced by Keith Francis alongside Aubr
