I talked to a friend who would rather not be named about her adventures knocking on doors in Guatemala, befriending Ecuadorian fishermen, Laotian delicacies, and then we ended up talking about couch surfing and the couch surfing culture. It was a great intro into couch surfing and what exactly it’s all about.
The album art here is a Laotian chicken skull split vertically so that you can slip the brain and everything else out. It's a delicacy alright.
20% of revenue from this episode will go toward Mayan Families (http://www.mayanfamilies.org) which works with the indigenous (and marginalized) population in Guatemala’s Lago Atitlan area. There are people with indigenous blood that in most if not all American countries (Native Americans in the US, First Nations People in Canada) are so often neglected and in a sense excluded from a lot of opportunities. This organization is providing access to healthcare, education and micro financing programs for these indigenous communities.
