Do you know what's in your water? Ask the community of Flint, Michigan that questions and they would say, "we do now".  But for those citizens of Flint its too late. They trusted their town officials and look where it got them.  In reality, there is no way to really know what is in your water unless you get it tested. And tested regularly.  Testing your water can be very expensive. Some people who have wells get their water tested on a regular basis and can pay up to $250 dollars per test. That's very expensive and probably not in your budget. The biggest problem for the community of Flint was not the bad smell or the cloudy looking water. It was the lead that was leeching into the water from the pipes.
