Chris Dodds - Psalm 3 - Amidst difficult times we are often perplexed by the overwhelming circumstances in our lives. Sorrow and suffering can push us away from God, because we believe that we cannot come to Him in the mess and muck of our world. Our view of prayer is sanitized and abstracted from the realities of life, and so we try to make it on our own, not relying on His strength. In deep contrast to this, the words of Psalm 3 show a kind of prayer that is deeply embedded in trying circumstances. This sermon challenges us to tell our troubles to God, and trust in the reality of His salvation.
