Artist, musician, academic, organizer, and agitator, Christy Roberts Berkowitz, composes experiences, images, and objects that attempt to reconcile revolution and escapism. A native of Southern California, Roberts holds Bachelor Degrees in Philosophy and Religion, a BFA in Studio Art, and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University, earned in 2011. Roberts is an Associate Professor at Moreno Valley College, Riverside City College, Norco College, University of La Verne, and has organized in/with/at: Chats About Change, The California Poppy Collective, KCHUNG, MOCA, Los Angeles, REDCAT, The Hammer Museum, LACMA, OCMA, The Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, Perform Chinatown, 5790projects, The WCCW, The Institute 4 Labor Generosity Workers and Uniforms, Summercamp’s ProjectProject, Greene Exhibitions, among many others. Roberts has written for Art21 Magazine and was one of LA Weekly’s Best of LA People, 2012.
