My title is a little bit tongue in cheek so I hope you will stay with me. I am doing a little mini-series on the Patriarchs. I want to stay with Abraham a little longer and see how he did with the promises of God. I don’t want this just to be a Bible story time, although the Bible is always valuable. Some valuable lessons can be learned that will help us today. At least that is my aim.
God made some incredible promises to Abraham as he has to us. Abraham had plenty of opportunity to doubt those promises just as we will.
Genesis 17:1-8 has several of those promises. “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, "I am God Almighty; walk before me and be blameless. 2 I will confirm my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers." 3 Abram fell facedown, and God said to him, 4 "As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations. 5 No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made
