How the U of Northern Alabama Expanded Its Parking

Director of the Year finalist and UNA Police Chief Bob Pastula describes how partnerships in the surrounding community and a shuttle bus program have alleviated campus parking problems.Colleges across the nation continue to grapple with parking challenges, both on- and off-campus. Without adequate parking, students, faculty and staff can’t get to class or to their jobs. Lack of appropriate parking can also cause traffic jams, as well as safety and security issues, not to mention a lot of frustration.

The University of Northern Alabama (UNA) was experiencing just these types of problems until UNA Chief of Police and 2014 Higher Ed Director of the Year Finalist Robert Pastula made some significant changes.

He also describes how UNA is paying for off-campus parking and the school’s shuttle bus program.
