A class project from2003. Expresses the emotions of the 5 phases using keys and scales of the Chinese pentatonic scale as they relate to the 5 Phases.
1sr track is Wood. Theme is determination and planning, on the brink of friction and heat, expressed as tension between the root note of wood and the note of metal, controlling wood. Eventually breaks into a chorus of the note associated with fire, showing a breakthrough to the cycle wood generates.
Second track is fire (2:15). All over-joy or lack of joy.
Third track is earth, starting at 4:00 - central and balanced, pensiveness (and worry) is expressed as ambient melody always coming back to center after exploring controlling, generating, and generated notes.
Then metal (7:14) uses a descending riff (descending of lung qi) with the sound of gulls (white color, aloft in air).
Finally Water (10:30) uses the groaning sound of water and emphasizes deep sounds that gather attention in the depths of consciousness.
