I didn't live in the 50s or 60s, but when I hear jazz songs recorded back then, I want to build a time machine back to one of the golden eras of popular music, where Billie Holliday, Sarah Vaughan, Louis Armstrong were ruling the charts. Now you don't have much chance to listen to those special songs, other than some Starbucks, where you likely never pay attention. Now is the time to pay attention, now is the time to enjoy all the blues, all the excitement, all the feelings of jazz back in time. I also picked a few recent tracks, inc. Erik Truffaz and the lovely Norah Jones, to show that the feeling is still alive in some today.
Disclaimer: I am not even close to having a broad knowledge of classical jazz, but I do like to collect and listen to old jazz records when I have the chance. I'm sure there are a few people out there who have much broader knowledge in this music and era, but that won't stop me from sharing some of the best acoustic tunes that sometimes play in my head.
